Dear Family,
SRPC longs to be missional. We want to have people grow up here and send them from here to bless our world and to bless other church communities. Here are some of SRPC's “kids” that God is using in other places. It might be sweet to write them a note.
Drew Donovan just graduated from FSU and is the Student Ministry Director at Christ Community Church in Gainesville.
Taylor and Molly Swander grew up at SRPC and SRCS and Taylor is on the pastoral staff at Reflections Church in Citrus Springs.
Dan and Kim Anderson both worked in student ministry at SRPC and both just graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. Dan is joining the pastoral staff of New City Church Orlando and Kim will be using her counseling degree to bring help and healing to families.
Josh and Lorra Gilman. Josh has served in student ministry here for 3 years while Lorra has taught at Central Ridge Elementary. Josh has been our interim student ministry director for the last year. This summer the Gilmans will relocate to Orlando, have their first child, and Josh will begin seminary training for ministry. This Sunday morning in worship we will say goodbye to this precious couple.
A common defense for those who defend homosexual practice is not to deny that the Bible condemns homosexual behavior (because it clearly does), but to argue that many of the prohibitions of the Bible don't apply today. In reply, Tim Keller's recent post, Old Testament Law and the Charge of Inconsistency, is helpful.
Andy Crouch's article, The Ten Most Significant Cultural Trends of the Last Decade, was great. Especially this quote, “We are all minorities now. Evangelical Christians are a minority, as are liberal Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, agnostics, and atheists…Barack Obama is a minority, but so is Sarah Palin. Republicans are a minority—so are Democrats, and so are independents.”
Steve Saint, who just joined SRPC weeks ago with his wife, Ginny, was seriously wounded this week at work in Dunnellon. Steve is the leader of a ministry we love to support called I-TEC and a delightful guy. Pray for Steve—his wife, his healing and his joy in the midst of what will be a long rehab assignment.
This weekend is Father's Day. I'm preaching from Judges 4 on Deborah – the Female Deliverer! Can't wait to be together.
