As you might have heard, I’m not the biggest NASCAR fan (isn’t it just “Swamp People” driving in circles), but I do love, when a race is about to begin and the track announcer belts out, “Drivers—start your engines.” SRPC is cranking up the new church year with a post-worship party on September 15-16. We’ll spread out on the front lawn, around the fountain (or indoors for the heat-averse) and eat as we experience the joy of doing life together as God’s family. Don’t miss September 15-16 as we party on the lawn!
The marriage class started Wednesday night—80
couples came! That’s an amazing
response! Student ministry began again
last Sunday and 130 students came to meet our new student pastor—Marty Cates
and that, too, is an amazing response. I
love that God is giving us an opportunity to play a part in the lives of this
many students! Here are our Core
Values for student ministry.
Are you registered to vote? People who know these things tell us that only 60% of eligible voters in our country are even registered. Jesus said to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s — and the most basic element of good citizenship is being a well-prepared voter.
Abortion obviously destroys the life of a young child, but less obvious is the devastation experienced by the woman who chooses to abort. The gospel is the fount of tremendous healing from all manner of erroneous choices we’ve made, but we rarely get the gospel in isolation. We need to experience it in community and Surrendering the Secret, our post-abortion recovery group, offers just that opportunity. The next group begins Thursday, September 6. Email Jessica Ebert for more information or to attend the group. Watch video here.
This Labor Day weekend, I begin a sermon series on Revelation 1-3. This week we’ll be studying Rev. 1. Should be an awesome time, I know our awesome God will be there!
