Dear Fam,
Tis the season to vote! Diane and I voted Monday at the county offices in Meadowcrest—there was no line at all. Next Tuesday night will be fascinating—as a political junkie, I suspect I’ll be up until at least 3 am. It’s almost as exciting a day as National Signing Day—the day in February when star high school football players commit to their college of choice. If you’re not a college football fan, you’re sadly unaware of this monumental day and if you love college football, no further explanation is needed! Here’s some advice for post-election—if your guy wins, don’t gloat, it’s not becoming for a Christian. If your guy loses—don’t despair, it’s not becoming for a Christian. The last I checked, there are no saviors on the ballot—the office of Lord of Heaven and Earth is already filled. Whatever happens on Tuesday won’t alter the governance of the universe!
- Thank you to all who tricked out their trunks and brought friends to Trunk or Treat—it was awesome. With our Cooter Fest outreach and Reformation Day services—it was a great weekend!
- A couple of weeks ago in worship, I talked about a reunion video of a husband returning from Afghanistan and surprising his family. The reaction of the wife is priceless and illustrative of how our hearts should respond to our divine husband.
- SRPC Christmas Concert is coming—December 15 at 7pm.
- Student ministry meets this Sunday night in the gym. Marty Cates will be here to lead!
- Saw the movie “Argo”-- it’s a great flick. Caustic language at times, but an amazing story of clandestine guile!
- This weekend, I’m preaching on Romans 8:1-13. Phil Gelston, a son of SRPC who is planting a church in Germany, will be here to update us. This Saturday night is the end of Daylight Savings—so, move your clock back one hour before bedtime or you’ll be an hour early for church, or 45 minutes early for many!
