Dear Brothers and Sisters,

  • Pray! Pray! Pray! The Pastor's Class begins tonight with over 60 signed up. If you are still on the fence about coming or have someone to invite, please come and join the party!

  • I have good news. Chad Robison is coming to join our church family as our new director of worship. Chad is a native of Knoxville, TN, attended Samford University and has, for the last five years, been the assistant director of music and worship at Briarwood PCA in Birmingham. At Briarwood, Chad has co-led and planned weekend worship, led the praise team and orchestra, co-directed the adult choir and overseen the concert ministry. Chad leads worship vocally and with guitar and piano. Chad is also a producer, singer and songwriter. Chad is 29 years old and has a “serious” relationship with a lovely lady named Alexandra Case who is pursuing her Masters in Education at Samford. Chad won't be here full time until January, but will be here three weekends in the fall. On worship, Chad writes: “Worship is not merely one activity among many; it is the highest activity for which we were created. Because we were made for this, we will worship something or someone, either the false gods of pleasure and success, wealth and power, or the one true God, who made us for relationship with himself.” If you'd like to send Chad a welcoming note, he can be reached at chad@chadrobison.net.

  • So who will lead worship when Chad isn't here? Thankfully God has provided Dan Beilman and Josh Bales to continue to lead us in the interim, and bowing to popular demand, I will occasionally take the helm and inspire robust congregational singing as I lead with the pan flute!

  • Three cheers for Sam Jones, Winsor Sineus, and Luke Ebert – three HS students who are running our Edge ministry (grades 3-5) under the direction of Jean Carland!

  • Check out the trailer of the documentary that's been filmed re: Ray Cannata's quest to eat in every (non-chain) restaurant in NOLA. It's amazing how God is using this church and hopefully this gastronomic feat to rebuild homes in this stormed-ravaged city.

  • Hope you've had a chance to meet our new student ministry team. Chad Turner continues as the head coach, but working with Chad are three young, talented and passionate leaders: Josh Gilman – who is married to Lorra and graduated from UF one year ago, Taylor Swander – who is engaged to be married to Molly Maglione in November and graduated from Liberty University last December, and the amazing Rachel Ebert who graduated from FSU and is blessing our team with her pursuit of our teenage girls! We are blessed to have this team wooing our teens' hearts with the love of Jesus!

  • If you are a true American patriot, then you know that this weekend begins the most wonderful time of the year – football season. Football isn't the only thing kicking off this weekend however – SRPC is launching our new season, too. This weekend in worship, we'll be celebrating the ways God has smiled on SRPC and getting our marching orders afresh to bless the world as his ambassadors. After worship we'll stay and be together for a few minutes as we have a mini-Labor Day picnic (aka a hot dog and coke!). If you've been on the sidelines and not attending or coming sporadically, why not use this weekend to rejoin the team and get back in the game!

Love,

Ray
